Advanced talks are said to be underway between the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and Herve Renard for him to assume the role of head coach for the national team.

Renard has emerged as a leading contender to fill the void left by Rui Vitória, the Portuguese manager who was relieved of his duties on Sunday in the wake of Egypt's disappointing performance in the 2023 AFCON.

The Pharaohs were eliminated in the Round of 16 after a penalty shootout loss to DR Congo.

Renowned for his successful stints with African teams like Zambia and Ivory Coast, Herve Renard has piqued the interest of Egyptian football authorities.

Despite currently leading the French women's national team, Renard is reportedly open to the possibility of taking charge of the Egyptian team. However, he remains committed to honouring his existing contractual obligations, including participation in the upcoming Olympics with the French women's team.

As negotiations regarding Renard's potential appointment progress, Carlos Queiroz, the former national team manager, has also emerged as a candidate in contention for the role.

The impending decision on Egypt's head coach reflects the nation's determination to revitalize its football program for international success.

Football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the official announcement, with the potential of Renard leading the team adding a sense of excitement to Egypt's football landscape.
