The Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Mark Addo says it is not easy playing your first match as head coach of the Black Stars in front of pressure ground Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Chris Hughton needed a late goal from AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo to beat Angola 1-0 on Thursday in his first game as Black Stars coach.

Fans have complained about the scrappy nature of football they’ve played but Mark Addo believes the conditions were harsh.

“Playing your first game as head coach of the Black Stars is not easy. Even aside that the weather was very warm,” he told Asempa FM.

“Most of the players ply their trade abroad, to play in this hot environment is not easy.

“There was also a bundle of nerves. There’s pressure in Kumasi. The fans want the win, they want goals.”

The win means Ghana leads Group E with seven points from three games and will face Angola in the reverse fixture on Monday in Luanda.
