Morocco has sent thousands of police personnel to Qatar to help the gulf country beef up security for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

According to a report in Jeune Afrique magazine, the deployment is part of a collaboration agreement with Qatar.

The statement comes only days after the General Directorate of National Security and General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST) of Morocco conducted a visit to the Lusail Stadium, which will host the World Cup's final match in 2022.

He also met with Qatari authorities many times to discuss World Cup security measures.

The 2022 World Cup will start on November 21, 2022, and end on December 18.

Host nation Qatar will play Ecuador in Group A after AFCON champions Senegal have played Holland on day one.

The Black Stars of Ghana is in Group H alongside South Korea, Portugal, and Uruguay. The Black Stars of Ghana will play its first game at the tournament against Portugal.
