Ghana coach Chris Hughton will lead the Black Stars in the upcoming 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Madagascar.

Hughton on Tuesday unveiled 24 players for the much-anticipated game next month and kept faith in the Nottingham Forest star despite calls for his omission from the team.

Ayew has come under increased criticisms in recent times with ex-football Emmanuel Osei Kuffour joining calls for his exclusion.

But the former Premier League manager has rejected such calls by including Ayew in his latest squad.

The former Swansea star did not feature in the doubleheader against Angola in March despite getting an invite.

The Black Stars will face Madagascar in the fifth round of the qualifiers on June 18 at the Stade Kianja Berea in Antananarivo.

Ghana currently sit atop Group E in the AFCON qualifiers, amassing 8 points. Their journey thus far has seen them secure victories in two matches against Madagascar and Angola, while also earning draws against Central African Republic and Angola in the initial four fixtures.

Following the Madagascar clash, the Black Stars will conclude their qualifiers with a final home game against the Central African Republic in September.
