Ghana is still on top of Group E in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, despite their dismal goalless draw against Madagascar on Sunday afternoon at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium.

The Black Stars lead the group by just one point after five rounds of games, with the recent game taking place in Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Chris Hughton's charges top the group with 9 points from two wins and three draws in the five rounds of qualifying games.

Angola, whom Ghana beat at home in March by a goal to nil and drew 1-1 with days later, are second in the group with 8 points after beating the Central African Republic 2-1 this past Saturday.

Despite the defeat, the Central African Republic can qualify ahead of Ghana if they can upset the Black Stars with a win in Ghana in the final round of qualifiers.

The Black Stars now need just one point from their final group qualifier to book their slot.

The four-time African champions will host the Central African Republic on September 4, 2023, at a yet-to-be-decided venue in Ghana.
