Ghanaian forward Aaron Opoku has said he doesn’t care what is going on at former club Hamburger SV.

This was after he suffered abuse from fans of his childhood club when he scored against them on Saturday in a German Bundesliga 2 game.

The 28-year-old came on as a substitute and scored with his first touch, giving his side a 2-0 win over his native town club.

Speaking to Bild after the game following the abuse, he said, “actually, I didn't care. I have a job to do here, my team and my teammates are here. What's going on in Hamburg is no longer my business.

“I just tried to play as best I could and support my team. I don't care what happens over there."

Aaron Opoku, who started his career at Hamburger SV in 2011 and embarked on several loan spells before finally leaving to join Kaiserslautern in August 2022, where he has scored three goals in 14 appearances.
