English-born midfielder Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu provided an assist in Fleetwood Town's 5-2 win against Accrington Stanley on Saturday afternoon.

Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu's pass over the top in the 9th minute found Marriott, who curled the ball past Lukas Jensen despite Stanley's appeals for offside.

In the 31st minute, Jayden Stockley's header glanced over the top of the crossbar before Town made it two on 35 minutes.

Jack Marriott outran the opponent and raced to the outside of the box before hitting low into the bottom of the goal.

Marriott broke and, with only Jensen to beat, his effort missed the post, but Stockley picked up the loose ball, squaring for Promise Omochere to tap in on 57 minutes.

In the 65th minute, Mitch Clark's cross into the area was headed home by Michael Nottingham, before a Clark throw in the 81st minute found Tommy Leigh, who smashed home to make it 3-2.

However, in 90 minutes, Phoenix Patterson opened space for himself and blasted into the roof of the net before Marriott celebrated his hat-trick with a solo goal in the third minute of added time.

Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu played full throttle against Accrington Stanley.
