Former Ashantigold winger Yaw Annor handed first Togo call up for Ivory Coast and Equatorial Guinea friendlies

Former Ashantigold winger Yaw Annor is set to make appearance for the Togolese national team after earning a call up for this month friendlies.

The 24-year-old, who won the Ghana Premier League top scorer in the 2021/22 season has been invited by coach Paulo Duarte for their two international friendlies against Cote d'Ivoire and Equatorial Guinea.

Yaw Annor has a Ghanaian father and Togolese mother and is eligible to feature for any of them.

But the enterprising winger has decided to swirch nationality and play for the Sparrowhawks as he sees his Black Stars chances limited.

Togo will tackle Cote d'Ivoire on September 24, 2022 in Paris, France before taking on Equatorial Guinea three days later in Morocco capital Casablanca.

Annor was instrumental in the Ghanaian top-flight last season after finishing as the highest scoring player after netting 22 goals in 30 appearances.

He also won the man of the match awards on eight occasions following his impressive goal scoring form.

The highly-rated footballer as headed to Egyptian side Ismaily SC after his enthralling performances where he has a five-year contract worth around US$200,000.

Annor becomes the latest Ghana-born to switch international allegiance to Togo after Kennedy Boateng, Emmanuel Hackman and Samuel Asamoah.
