The Black Stars of Ghana will take on Chile in the third-place match of the ongoing Kirin Cup tournament on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.
Ghana on Friday morning played the first match of the tournament being staged in Kobe in a game against the hosts.
After performing poorly, the Black Stars were whipped 4-1 by Japan at the end of the 90 minutes.
On the matchday, experienced striker Jordan Ayew netted the only consolation goal for Ghana.
The defeat means that the Black Stars have no business in the finals of this year’s Kirin Cup.
The final will be played between Japan and Tunisia who beat Chile 2-0 in the opening match of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars are to stay in Japan for the next five days. The team will have the chance to fight for a third-place finish on Tuesday, June 12, 2022.
It will be a game against South American outfit Chile.
Coach Otto Addo and his technical team are using the games at the Kirin Cup to prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup that will be staged in Qatar later this year.
